@Pastellioli I personally find that it's the higher tech devices that struggle more with bad internet. My ps5, and Xbox One suffer far more than my switch for download speeds for example. And I don't remember much of a struggle with Wii/DS at all.
Yeah, iirc, Rare Replay wasn't gonna come to Nintendo. Especially not now that we have switch online ports. And, in general, Microsoft doesn't seem to handle studios well at all. There was relatively recent outrage when they bought a few studios literally just to shut them down, and get rid of all the employees. The newer devs of Halo, one of Microsoft's biggest early series, has suffered similarly in terms of treatment to Rare. I do absolutely think Rare would still be thriving with plenty of its earlier employees if Nintendo had bought them.
Okay. Project Spark definitely interested me though. I wonder if even the disc version is no longer playable? I know PS4/5 has a creator type game called Dreams. Found it on sale, and just waiting to play fan projects.
Well, I'm not such a big fan of squirrels, but they have appeal, if Ratatoskr is anything to go by. Rather, I much prefer kitsune, and their shapeshifting transforming shenanigans. If there were any superpower I'd want, it'd be the ability to become anything at any time (with the ability to revert of course), never being trapped in a form, and being able to use that form's abilities. I don't pay as much attention to the details of the designs, but they are gorgeous. From early on, I liked the designs of most of the manaketes. I do feel like FEH butchered some of the character personalities though. (Notably Nowi) I'm more afraid the next book will be the last, given 9 worlds.
Sonic 3 was pretty polished. The first classic Sonic to have a level select iirc, plus the Sonic and Knuckles game as an addon. Notably, said addon worked with Sonic 1 and 2 as well, which would likely be where the mobile port of 2 got playable Knuckles from. I heard mobile 2 added a formerly scrapped stage? I can't handle playing traditional games on mobile, so I hope it gets ported.
There are a fair few good Sonic fangames, but Omens, no matter if good or bad, committed several taboos. Fangames are, under no circumstances, to EVER make money, yet the creators got funding from, I think Patreon. Also, they mistreated people a whole lot. And there was something about Maria?
Idk the full story, but ppl have claimed that game could cause Sega to take a very Nintendo approach to fangames.
Sonic Forces sucked. As for a Conker sequel, I'd have liked to have that waiting in the wings for when I finish the OG. I didn't know the OG only had 3 VAs!
I'm curious about this thread you mentioned tbh.
3D Sonic can be interesting, it can be good, or bad, and sometimes brutal. There were two major steps backward that development took for them along the way though. The first was making it so every enemy has a health bar. Fitting for Heroes, at least somewhat, but a pain for other games. The second was removing the variety of characters you could play as, which I really hope they remedy soon.

A very late Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. Very busy this week between a work related conference and other goings-on.

@Mariotag Ah. I figured going by your last post you were pretty much finished. No problem. Still seems like you have a bit to dig into then. Including some different modes.

I like arcade machines from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. I haven't really played any from an era before that, though I've seen some vintage pinball machines before. I'd love a shot at Mario Kart Arcade GP sometime just to try it out.

For reading, it's hard for me to explain it. It's like my brain went through a mental shift in my late high school years where I read to "absorb", which extends to casual reading as well. I was a voracious reader before that, though in hindsight spending a lot of time on the bus probably helped with the free time for it lol. I do still read, though typically before I go to bed. Which means it doesn't happen half the time since I fall asleep.

@Pastellioli I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Seems like you're kept busy with your drawing, which is great! Looking forward to seeing/hearing about how that original character turns out. No issues with practicing by creating fanart either.

Dedicated arcades are definitely places to experience. But they are rater in this day and age since people can game in the comfort of their own homes. Or run those same arcade games via emulators, build a MAME cabinet, etc. I've actually never heard of car washes having arcade machines, at least they don't around here. Many are drive thru or self-service with no notable indoor areas outside of the car bays.

I only have a couple mobile games in my rotation right now, though I don't play for more than a few minutes at a time usually. I actually did venture out for a bit of shopping Sunday since I figured it wouldn't be as bad and did need a couple of things. It turns out I was mostly right, though traffic did get hairy at one point. I'll have to take your word for it in those shooters games. I know it's a really big genre, but they aren't really my cup of tea most of the time lol.

Same on subs and dubs when it comes to anime. Dubbed is easier on my brain - especially after a long work day like today - since I don't have to do quite as much mental work lol. I've heard Crunchyroll is a great service overall, but the different tiers and ads can definitely cause issues from what I've heard. Especially for those who can't afford or have to pick and choose what subscriptions they go with.

Currently playing: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind (Switch)

@Tyranexx Yeahhh. Multiple modes, multiple paths, multiple characters, multiple difficulties, all across three collections. I'll get to them eventually. Right now, I'm just enjoying the core experience.
I've only played a handful of arcade machines. I'm hoping to add MKA GP to that list before too incredibly long. But I do spend most of my time at home, and tis usually where I game. Most recently with Brothership.
Reading went through a sort of phase for me around that time too. I used to skim a lot, and read the essence of a book quickly. But at a certain point, it started getting harder and harder, until I was reading and rereading individual letters, trying to decipher their meanings. I got out of it eventually, but not before my patience was largely demolished.
I only recently added the Pokemon TCG recent release to my mobile game list. Still at starting stages. Am afraid of Fire Emblem Heroes ending and going away soon.
Original Characters can be neat. I'm curious how this one comes out, as well as what they are.
For me, sub vs dub is just a matter of familiarity at this point. Crunchyroll on the other hand, imo, was better off separate from Funimation. They don't dub nearly as much as Funi did. Their ads were always a problem for me. I find CR to effectively be non-functional. Constant lag, plus it crashes over things like rewinding, fast forwarding, and the aforementioned ads. Also that incident a decade ago where I tried to start a free trial to watch the at the time new Fairy Tail, only we had to pay for it twice because the trial in question being advertised did not exist.

@Mariotag Pocket Tales was a top down adventure Conker Game for Game boy Colour. Never played it myself, but I think @Pastellioli has. I would like to, and hope it comes to NSO!

Yes, Rare don't really have 'characters' any more, aside their legacy ones that they do next to nothing with.

Aside from Shadow, I would say the main thing they have 'added' is there are now 3 hidden Chao per level on top of the 5 red rings should you want an extra challenge. There is also obviously the benefit of it being polished/running better than the original. The Switch version is notoriously well handled too, with it running and reacting wonderfully to your button input.

However, they have also taken away bits of script in the cut scenes from what I hear, which has upset a few people. Amy is no longer really obsessed with Sonic and Knuckles no longer jokes that classic Sonic is fat. Things like that. Never played the original to know exactly what is missing though, but these are the ones I known.

@Mana_Knight Ahh. Nice on the additions to Generations. Not so nice on the removals.
Rare kinda doesn't do much that I've seen lately.
Huh. Pocket Tales was Conker? And it actually released? Is it basically Twelve Tales?
Idk what to expect by "adventure game" as a description.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I'm in a great mood with Christmastime showing up. Been decorating the tree and everything, and I even got a new stocking. Also changed my Nintendo Life profile picture and banner to match the occasion. I also saw The Polar Express with my mom, and we both loved it! It's such a wonderful holiday movie. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Been busy as a bee lately, with stuff like my passion project and Christmas decorating. I don't think I commented on how my Thanksgiving was, it was also nice. Hope everyone's doing well.

@Eel Good to know on Hocus Pocus, thanks for your thoughts on the movie. Maybe I'll give it a shot at some point to see if I like it. It's a movie I've heard of back in the day, but just didn't have it.

@Pastellioli Oh gosh, they have those kind of usernames, huh? Yeah... if I were them, I would just play the song normally, haha. I remember seeing a few people not play well in Splatoon. If I recall correctly, in one of my sessions in Splatoon 3's Salmon Run, I was the second to last player who got bumped off the stage, and one more player was near me. And somehow, they've jumped off the stage themselves and we all lost! They probably didn't notice me needing help, but yeah... that was frustrating.

Ouch, that Tower Control disconnect must have stung hard. I actually did get a communication error during one of my Anarchy Series matches a while back, and the game gave me a loss with no medals. I do remember still getting more points than what I wagered though, thankfully. Sometimes if my connection starts to screw up, I would power cycle my router. It was definitely a miracle in that Grand Festival match, lol.

Yeah me too, Smash Bros. is much easier for me to get into. I'm decent at it myself, though it depends on the character I'm using. I'm pretty good with characters like Mario, Samus, Mega Man, and Banjo to name a few.

@Tyranexx Me too. Glad to see you liked Hocus Pocus, that's a movie I should check out at some point, I'm pretty curious about it despite my mom not liking one of the actresses in it. Gotcha, hopefully you'll be able to see The Nightmare Before Christmas this year. You're right, it is a good one to watch during that time frame, it does have both Halloween and Christmas in it after all, haha. Speaking of holiday-themed movies, I saw The Polar Express and I loved every second of it!

Gotcha, I did see you're almost done with Echoes of Wisdom. Best of luck on finishing it and The Missing Heir! I think I'm almost done with Brothership, as well. Wonder what I should play after it... been getting nostalgic for the Mega Man Battle Network series so maybe I'll play the MMBN Legacy Collection. Though I will say, I remember the first game being a bit... rough around the edges compared to most of its sequels. And there's a few games on my Christmas wish list too, not to mention the other games on my backlog.

Glad to see you loved the zip lining! Kind of unsure if I'd be willing to try it out, since I'm not too comfortable with heights. I guess I'll see what it's like if I do see it. Glad to hear the kitten is still doing good.

@Sunsy I did see Trolls and I enjoyed it. Went ahead and told you about it in the movie thread. I already love Poppy and how sweet and positive she is! I wanna see Band Together at some point, I'll let you know what I think when I see it. On a movie-related note, I also saw The Polar Express, which I also enjoyed.

That's cool you have that Trolls headband. Those all sound nice. The last time I dressed up for Halloween, it was a Luigi costume. I had a Mario costume on a few times in the past, too. But yeah, I haven't been dressing up in costumes in a long time, especially since trick-or-treaters just don't come around my area.

I remember seeing those Satellaview Mario games, I think I saw a video on one of them a long time ago. Been fascinated by Sega Channel as well, there's been new VHS rips of it put on YouTube which I've been seeing. As someone who was too young at the time and our family only having the SNES, it is cool to see how it worked. I do like how it gave you stuff like tips while your game downloads.

That's cool, yeah there's just something about having stuff like movies in the background while you're playing games. I do really like the Nintendo Music app too. I've been having the Toy Day theme from Animal Crossing: New Horizons playing in the background while decorating my Christmas tree and putting together my train set! I just wish that Nintendo Music didn't have that startup issue for me, where it would hang on the loading screen until I close the app and start it again. I think it's been happening less as time goes on, though. If it helps to know, I'm an Android user.

Nice, that's cool. Gosh, I just remembered something, I used to have a demo disc for my PS2 way back in the day! It came with a PlayStation magazine, I think it was called PlayStation Underground? It had stuff like game demos (for games like Maximo: Ghosts to Glory and Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder), trailers, and tip videos. I remember that some PS1 Crash games (like Crash Bandicoot: Warped) had demos for Spyro games, as well.

Oh that's cool, didn't know Wolfenstein came out before Doom. I don't think I've heard of the Blake Stone games, they do sound pretty cool. I think the closest thing I played was GoldenEye 007, I played a fair amount of it on NSO.

Nice, glad you got to try out the newest Mario Party! Jamboree is really good. Cool to see the demo let you try out Peach's minigame, as well. Good to hear you had a nice time out, sounds like you got a good haul. I got a couple new ornaments, including the Mario characters one from My Nintendo. Got myself a new stocking, too.

@Mariotag Yep. It was released before Conker became BFD Conker. 1999 I think. So, it probably is closer to the idea of what Twelve Tales was going to be. Before the booze took hold! Haha.
Plays a tiny bit like Link's Awakening in part I am told.

@Mariotag Yeah, I actually kind of think that my Switch had better internet than my Series S, and that is stronger than the Switch. The Switch still had issues with the internet and some games, but it didn’t really do that with Splatoon a lot, but only on occasions. I found that Smash had worse internet than Splatoon and it ruined a lot more matches; because, at any point of the match in Smash, if one player disconnects from trashy internet, it ends the entire match and the other players have to start over and find another match. I also thought the WiiU was better at staying connected to the internet, but who knows, maybe the internet here got worse over the years. I’m still stuck and contemplating whether I should redownload Overwatch 2 on the Xbox again. I really like the characters and gameplay, but it takes too long to download, had usually poor internet performance that prevented me from playing matches well and I think its battle pass is so annoying and unnecessary.

I think it was when Microsoft closed down a few ZeniMax studios, though I think the closure that upset people the most was Tango Gameworks, though another company came in and acquired the studio from Microsoft and revived it, which is very good to hear, though I still think what Microsoft did was terrible. They are really not good at managing studios at all. I never played a game from them, but hearing what they did to Lionhead Studios and just resorted to shutting them down when development on a Fable game wasn’t doing well was stupid. I am glad they didn’t shut Rare down, but they should be doing a better job managing them. I have a big issue with Microsoft purchasing more game studios, because I think they have a good amount of studios under their ownership and should be trying to manage the ones they have before making another significantly big purchase. I think their history of buying up multiple studios just to do almost nothing with them, poorly managing them, or just resorting to shutting them down is why it took them such a long time to purchase Activision Blizzard and why Microsoft was placed under a ton of scrutiny from the FTC and a lot of people. It feels like Rare has kind of been even more forgotten under Microsoft’s management compared to Rare’s reputation when they were a Nintendo-exclusive developer.

I will admit, I like the way squirrels look and some of their characteristics, and they definitely appeal to me (though I only started to like them more after playing Conker last year) but I kind of get slightly anxious when I see one staring at me and wondering if it’ll run toward me, since I have no idea where the squirrel has been.

I do think that shapeshifting characters in fictional media is really cool! I enjoy a lot of the units in FEH that can transform into creatures and animals and fight in those forms, and I find that the units that shapeshift are pretty strong. I have a ton of others, but the shapeshifting units I used the most in FEH were Ratatoskr and Nifl.

I do hope so. I think there are a few more Sonic games that haven’t received ports on modern consoles or phones. There was actually a prototype or pitch to port Sonic 3 to mobile a decade ago, but Sega didn’t greenlight the project, so the first and second games were the only ones to get mobile ports. I know there was that sequel to Sonic 3 that they released on consoles and mobile phones that was split into two parts and used the modern designs of the characters, but I heard it was not good at all and some thought it was cheap-looking. I am more interested in replaying Sonic 3, but they haven’t really released it in modern platforms yet.

Ooh, a fangame making money off of the IP sounds super bad. I am really against people making money off of characters and IP that they don’t own. It’s fine for people to make fan media and show off their love for the characters, but they shouldn’t make a profit off it. It reminds me of this video I watched discussing fan art, and I remember that the video mentioned Undertale. In that portion of the video, the person mentioned that people were selling fanart and merchandise of characters from Undertale without permission or an official license, and the creator had to change his rules and policy over fan works being sold without his permission. I also think some companies have stated that they like fan content, but want people to not sell it, and I agree with that. I think that people should only sell stuff that is original content, and not ones that are based on a pre-existing IP and characters that was made by someone else or a different company. People can really get in big trouble if they do that.

I only played a small portion of Sonic Forces, but I thought it was awful. My brother played the whole thing and he thought it was terrible. I heard a lot of people say Infinite was a super weak and poorly written villain, and I even remembered that they brought Chaos back just to do nothing with him for the whole game.

Gosh, I would have loved the sequel a ton. It would have been so fun finishing the original and then moving on to a sequel after that, but because it never was finished, I moved on to the remake for Bad Fur Day instead. Yep, the voice cast only had three people, consisting of the game director, as well as an animator and a developer who both worked at Rare at the time. The director voiced Conker and nearly all the male characters (plus two female characters), while the animator voiced most female characters and the developer voiced The Great Mighty Poo. They all did a really good job, especially with the American accents for some of the characters they voiced. Usually, with a game having a large cast of characters, you’d hire more than three people to do the voice acting. A lot of the developers at Rare were really great with voice acting in their games, though most of the time the developers voicing the characters were either not credited, or were credited, but didn’t have their roles specified. Though, as the years went on, they have revealed the voice actors and actresses who did the voices. I know that the Conker remake got a couple more voice actors/actresses for the multiplayer mode, but they unfortunately still haven’t specified the characters they voiced.

It was this thread:

https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/general_discussion/what_d...

This was one of the first threads I commented on when I made my account, and it was really nice to see everyone else’s responses. The thread topic really made me think a lot about the games I’ve played, since I usually take the games I play at face value, but I had to use the spoiler tag to cover up the Conker’s Bad Fur Day section of my reply (since it pertains to the ending and the final cutscene) so I would recommend skipping my replies to the thread until you complete the game. Unfortunately, no one has commented on that specific thread in months.

@Tyranexx My Thanksgiving was good, thank you! I hope yours was too. The next holiday I’m looking forward to is Christmas later this month. I’ve been waiting all year for that!

I actually finished that original drawing I was talking about! It was a drawing of a bunch of random animals, and I had fun making it. I still like making fanart of video game characters and imaging how they’d look in my style. I recently redrew a scene from Conker’s Bad Fur Day, but it took me way too long because I drew on big paper, plus I use ballpoint pen for my art instead of something faster like alcohol markers. I honestly wasn’t too proud of the final picture, but the failed first attempt looked stiffer and way worse than the second attempt. Usually, I try to keep the elements that make the characters recognizable, but also changing some stuff up to fit my style. I’m not good at doing recreations of pictures, usually I’ve found that they look less detailed and wonky. I’ve tried to redraw the Mona Lisa so many times in the past (at least four times) but it’s so hard to get it to look accurate because the painting is so detailed and beautiful. I’ve found that it’s the same with redrawing images of video game scenes too.

Oh, that’s where most arcade cabinets are located instead? Usually I found them inside of car washes and they had their own space dedicated to them. It was a nice way to wait, I think the inside of the car wash also sold packaged ice cream bars and snacks, and also had a television on the wall, though it’s been years since I last been there, so I can’t fully remember everything and there could be a chance they replaced some of it.

That’s understandable! I’m really not good at playing shooter games at the moment haha. I’m not into them a lot anymore now that I don’t really play my Xbox a ton and instead play mobile games because of my schedule. My game tastes have changed a lot over the years, now I really like rhythm games, platformers, and fighting games over shooter games right now. I played the heck out of shooter games back then, mainly thanks to Splatoon and Overwatch. I do want to get back into playing shooter games when I get the time to though.

Crunchyroll is nice and I have given some popular anime shows a try on there, but my main issue is with the ads with the Free tier. There are way too many that the app places before the start of an episodes and during episodes, and sometimes the ads don’t load fast and take forever, and it results in me having to leave the app and retry again. Usually, it’s one ad before the start of an episode, but then the next ads have more than one, such as “ad 1 of 5” and it made it so hard to watch some anime. It stinks cuz I think Crunchyroll has a good selection of anime. It’s a good mix of a ton of iconic and popular ones alongside niche ones and some anime films too.

@Mana_Knight I did try a bit of Conker’s Pocket Tales a few months ago after I completed my second playthrough of Bad Fur Day in August for a game club, but I didn’t think Pocket Tales was super fun or memorable like Bad Fur Day and I quickly dropped it, plus I was kind of confused while playing it. I could try it again, though, because I only played it for a day and stopped very quickly, plus I didn’t use a walkthrough. I think it’s interesting to see the game’s kiddy, Everyone-rated direction, given that was the direction Bad Fur Day was supposed to take at first before it was delayed and retooled into an Mature-rated game. I do wonder how Bad Fur Day would have been if it still was Twelve Tales and was kid-friendly. That game probably has one of the most interesting game development stories ever.

@MarioVillager92 Yeah, those kinds of players seem unfun and terrible. I don’t actually mind any of the songs in that game and I love them all, and I’ll play any song in an online match, even if the song level is higher and difficult. Usually I play the game on Expert difficulty, the second most hardest song level, but I am pretty comfortable with it and have gotten used to it. Plus, the game’s player base has had a ton of trouble with people intentionally disbanding matches, so I wouldn’t want to cause others lots of frustration. It’s super hard to connect to a game room in there without having someone disconnect and disbanding the group.

I have encountered some players like that, but most of the time the matches went pretty smoothly, especially when I played it in the second game. Though, there were times where I was the last player alive and tried to revive other players and then I get splatted and me and my team lost. The feeling I got from that never felt good…I played Splatoon 2 a lot more than 3, so the difficulty level got harder the more Salmon Run shifts I won and it was sometimes hard to stay alive and assist teammates with so much Salmonids causing a ton of madness on the map.

Yeah, it stunk a ton, winning the Tower Control match and then when me and my team were about to win, my internet chooses to disconnect me and makes it seem like I threw the match at the last minute, and I don’t even know how the match ended. It stunk even more when it disconnected me a second time. I think disconnecting from Anarchy/Ranked battles is worse than disconnecting from Turf Wars, given Ranked battles are more serious and you have to give it your all. In fact, I mostly played 2 and 3 for Ranked matches. My internet is better now, but it occasionally has issues, but significantly less.

I am better at playing those fighting games with platformer elements. Another one I thought was fun was Brawlhalla, which was kind of similar to Smash. Going back to Smash, my main was Banjo and Kazooie, and I did play Hero sometimes. I’m usually bad at playing the other characters besides those two, but I find that I am ok with most of the DLC fighters (though I find Kazuya harder to play) as well as most of the Fire Emblem and Mario characters, though I stink at using Robin and I find that he is super slow to use. Before, my main was Corrin, but I stopped playing as Corrin after I began to use Banjo a ton. I like playing as him a lot, plus I find that he and Kazooie are super charming in the game from how they are animated and how they act.

Ahh. So that's what it was! Would be neat to get a hold of.

@Pastellioli
Imo, Crunchyroll has a good selection, but sucks overall.
I'm no artist, though I've tried a couple times.
I'll look at the thread later.
Interesting about the voices. Though, there are plenty more voice actors these days.
I don't remember
Chaos
from Forces?
Sonic 3 exists on modern platforms in the Sonic Origins Collection. But some of the music is different from older releases because of licensing.
Sonic 4 was bad, straight up. Only 4 zones in either part.
Fans should not make money off content creators' IPs PERIOD. It's among the cardinal rules.
Yeah, Iirc, while the internet could get bad on my Wii U, it wasn't as bad as what's around now. And it could absolutely have been local internet quality going down too. Interestingly, this applies to video streaming services too. Had to update hulu, and it hasn't been the same since.
I don't even know all the studios Microsoft has bought and done stupid stuff with. It's a lot though. Lately, people have been upset with Sony, as Kadokawa approaching them to be bought gives them a potential stranglehold on the anime/light novel/manga industry. Rare would likely still be thriving under Nintendo.
I'm not especially good with wildlife in general, especially these days. Dunno how long it's been since I've seen an actual squirrel.
Yeah. The shapeshifting characters are awesome! The book 8 characters have this sort of Kurama Mode Naruto aesthetic to them, and it's great!
If I were to have a superpower though, rather than shapeshifting, it'd be transformation. I' wanna be whatever I want, with their abilities, along with the ability to transform again. And ofc, have a base form. I thought kitsune would be perfect for this, as some depictions have them transform rather than shapeshift.

@Mariotag Yeah, last time I used Crunchyroll was two months ago but I haven’t used it. Really bad ads ruined the experience. It definitely didn’t help when I watched it late at night and had to wait for the episodes to start, cuz then I would sometimes get sleepy and fall asleep when the ads ran for too long.

Love drawing a ton, I’ve been doing it more and sharing it, but I get the occasional art block and drawings can take me super long to do since I draw in ballpoint pen.

I remember they had Chaos in one of the cutscenes where all the villains defeat Sonicat the beginning of the game, but people pointed out you don’t actually encounter Chaos in the game later or fight him after that cutscene. I’ll check again just to make sure I’m not forgetting. Sometimes I can’t trust my memory a lot.

The voice cast in Bad Fur Day was really interesting and how they only had three people doing all the voices, but I wish I knew who the other voice actors/actresses in the Xbox remake voiced though. I’d assume it was the squirrels and teddy bears in the multiplayer mode, and the rest of the cast was credited as providing additional voices instead of having their roles specified. The only VA names I recognized from the remake’s credit list was another Rare employee and Fred Tatasciore, but I have no idea who they both voiced.

I’ll check that out! Thank you for reminding me. I actually forgot about that collection and the games included in it. I do remember the music changes to it though and the reactions to it.

Even though I like my Xbox a lot, I just think Microsoft stinks at managing companies and I wish they would try and refrain from purchasing more studios and just working with the ones they have and trying to improve them. I heard about the Sony Kadokawa thing and the fact that Kadokawa owns several anime and game studios like Spike Chunsoft and the possibilities that some game IPs Kadokawa has could stay PlayStation exclusive if the deal happens. I found out about it on an NL article because Kadokawa owns Acquire (the studio that developed Mario & Luigi: Brothership) and the chances that they won’t work on another Mario & Luigi game if the acquisition goes through. Kadokawa has acknowledged that they were talking to Sony about being acquired, but haven’t made a deal yet, but I’ve heard a lot of opinions against the deal. It would be bad if some of the multi-platform IPs Kadokawa owns via their game studios were to be exclusive. I honestly don’t like it when a multi-platform game IP becomes exclusive to a specific console.

Last time I saw a squirrel was a few weeks ago when I went walking. There was a little squirrel that climbed up a tree nearby and was standing on top of the branch. It was a surprise to see it, since usually I mostly see squirrels at the park instead.

I just love some of the fantastical elements of FEH a ton, and it find it a lot in the shapeshifting characters. I am also a fan of mythological creatures and animals, so I absolutely love that, especially thanks to Yo-kai Watch and their depictions of various characters from Japanese mythology. I also remembered that almost all of the new characters they introduced in Book 8 could shapeshift. Two of Ratatoskr’s sisters could shapeshift (I remember one of them transforming into a bird or eagle) and Ash from one of the previous Books transformed into a cow, which I remember reading that her shapeshift form was likely based on a cow character in Norse mythology. I should add I am also a fan of some of the Norse elements they used in FEH, and how they turned some of the Norse animal characters into humans, mostly talking about Ratatoskr. In mythology, the character she’s based on was an ordinary squirrel that ran up and down a world tree and delivered messages, and I like FEH’s take on the character a lot.

@Mana_Knight Thanks! I’ll try to get to it soon. I haven’t played my Switch as of late, but I’ll accept your request!

@Pastellioli Neat about the FEH stuff! Yeah, I have the book 8 flying unit. Didn't know all the mythology details though. As much as I like shapeshifting, I like the idea of transformation as a power more, just cause it has more possibilities.

Interesting on the Sonic Forces details.

I simply don't have the patience for drawing.

Microsoft really does need to work on improving the studios they own, instead of destroying them, or ignoring them because muh billion dollar profits.
Sony, idk how it'll affect either industry. Gaming will arguably lose a fair bit. But anime and source material could lose far more. Kadokawa apparently owns a significant chunk of the industry. Apparently, we have some group called Kakao to blame for this.

I haven't really gone outside much in a while, for reasons I mentioned in that thread you linked.

@Mariotag Yeah, I just like the Norse theme of FEH and the fact that several characters in it are based on various creatures and figures in Norse mythology and the game’s depictions of those characters, mostly with their designs and how the characters are incorporated into the story. I find that any kind of mythology is interesting, and I enjoy fantasy stories and characters a lot. Usually, Fire Emblem is medieval-themed, though FEH has a ton more fantastical elements combined with the medieval setting of the mainline games.

That’s understandable. I love drawing but it’s also frustrating at times too. I can understand why some don’t like it. It’s sometimes too time-consuming, and a lot of stuff doesn’t turn out how I want it too. Plus, it can sometimes be expensive to get into and finding the right materials that work. I’m better at traditional art than digital art.

I think Microsoft is the worst when it comes to managing studios out of all the main big gaming companies out there. I think that the FTC’s scrutiny and worried during the Activision acquisition was understandable, and maybe if Microsoft did have a better history managing and buying studios, then it could have gone smoother instead. I did hear about the Sony Kadokawa thing potentially affecting the anime/manga industry more than gaming, especially since Sony is kind of big in the anime industry, but no one knows if the acquisition is going to go through at all.
